Let me admit that last night I had something else written in this space to go along with my weekly mileage. After the wonderful morning I had, I decided to write something else. What was here was almost a reiteration of what I wrote the other day about mileage, and may have expanded some, I quoted a lot of numbers, that simply don’t matter! I did however update my yearly mileage with May miles! So check it out on the tab above!
This morning I got a wonderful long run in with Nathan. Bringing us up to four runs together this week! Then we got to the portion of the morning that really changed my views on what this post was going to be about.
This year I have been attending a bible study called Athletes in Action (AIA). It is a group that I have really been drawn to. Anyone is allowed to come, most of us are athletes at Eastern though. I’ve made some great friends there, and it makes Tuesday nights the best night of the week, even if Tuesday becomes the longest day, I don’t really mind!
AIA is a group of Christian Athletes who get together once a week, to study the word, hang out, and get to know what God has planned for our lives. This year we have moved through an I Am Second movement. We watch one of the videos every week and then break up into smaller groups, usually guys and girls, and talk about what the video was saying, and how we might apply that to our lives.
One of my friends though, Elise, is s jumper on the track team and someone I have gotten to know through AIA this year. This summer as a project through Athletes in Action she is going to be travelling to South Africa to work with a track team over there. She has been trying to raise support for her trip, and today decided to have a pancake feed to hang out and feed her friends and fellow athletes. Her boyfriend Ben made some pretty delicious pancakes (chocolate chip, cinnamon), which Nathan and I used to feed our hungry bodies and just had a good time conversing on all subjects.
I wish Elise the best of luck in raising the money she needs and will definitely be keeping her in my prayers this summer as she travels!
